TA DA... FINALLY (only 10 weeks late!)

So this may be LATE but better late than NEVER right? LoL!

So here it goes....

My Birth Story:

September 13, 2010 (Monday) [[1 week/1 day past due]]
I had 2 appointments; the first was for a 2nd Non-Stress Test at St. Josephs(everything was good!) and the second was with my OB/GYN. Dr. Tatarin did a pelvic exam and had BAD news! He sad i was still closed, 0% effaced, and the baby had not dropped. He then went on to say that we needed to think about getting an "elective c-section". That meant that if we agreed, we would go in knowing that i was going to have a c-section. I asked if i could at least try an induction and he said yes but most likely that would still end in a c-section and would put stress on the baby. I asked for some time to think about it and he said to go ahead and call them back later that day. Needless to say, i left his office crying. What a tough decision WE were faced with! James and i discussed the positives and negatives of each option. Of course, i didnt want to harm my daughter by putting more stress on her than needed but a c-section was not what i had pictured happening either! For 40 weeks i had envisioned the day when i would be in labor and get to deliver my daughter vagiinally, NOT for me to go into the hospital to get cut open and then my daughter be rushed away! My dad had just flown in from Japan after working there for 90 days so my brother and him were at our place for the night. When we heard that i was going to a) be induced or b) have an elective c-section the next day Grandma and Grandpa Shine drove right down! So they were also there! Talk about a FULL HOUSE :)
James and I finally decided to do an induction. We called my Dr.'s office and told the nurse our decision. She said to plan on being induced the next day. All day and evening i was pretty upset. I was hoping and praying that we had made the right choice. At least i had good company there to keep my mind somewhat occupied. So we had dinner and started to settle in for the night. I had to run to target around 930pm to get an extra air mattress for our guests. I felt sort of "weird" but just thought that was my nerves. So around 10:30pm i was sitting in our living room when it all started! LoL! my water broke!! It wasnt like in the movies though where it gushes out. It was just a tiny amount of fluid. So i went to the bathroom where James was showering and let him know that MAYBE my water just broke but not to say anything to our family yet because i wasnt sure. Then about 30 minutes later i went to the bathroom and i saw a small amount of blood. At that point i knew something was up! I told James again and said to still keep quiet! He couldnt and blurted it out to everyone! LoL! so his mom and dad got out of bed and started getting ready. I wasn't sure i wanted to go into the hospital just yet because i wasn't having contractions but all of a sudden i felt one. Then i started really feeling them.. a lot of them! So i said "LET'S GO!!" and we got in the car and drove off! By the time we got there it was midnight and i was in EXTREME pain! My best friend, Cori, wanted to be there but since it was the middle of the night she was just going to drive down first thing in the morning. So i asked my friend Lizbeth to be there until Cori could make it. So in the room i had James, Grandma Shine, and Lizbeth.

By the time they got me to a room i was already almost 4cm!! I felt like i was dying.. NO ONE can prepare you for how bad the contractions will hurt! So when they offered the epidural i didnt hesitate! The anastheiologist came in and everyone had to leave the room except James. The epidural itself felt like nothing compared to the contractions. It took him a VERY long time to finally give me the epidural and then when he left i still felt EVERYTHING! Finally i called for a nurse and let her know that the epidural was not working. They called the anastheiologist back and he had to re-do it but by then i was at 6cm! Talk about PAIN! On the brightside, things were progressing quickly! After the 2nd epidural i felt FABULOUS! lol! I was ready to meet my daughter! Finally 7am rolled around and i was ready to push.... Dr. Tatarin came in and checked me and then the nurses prepped me. They instructed me on how to push/breath. After am hour and a half of pushing, Madison James Shine finally entered this world!! I was such a cry baby! I'm pretty sure i was crying more than her! haha! She was the MOST BEAUTIFUL baby girl i has ever laid eyes on!
Like so many mothers had told me "IT WAS SO WORTH IT".. all the pain, frustration, sickness.. all of that now meant nothing because now i had my beautiful daughter in my arms!! My life suddenly became complete!! ♥
It meant so much to have so many family and friends there!! The nurses even let more than the maximun amount of visitors in the room(3) so i had about 15 people in there after they had cleaned Madison and me up!

It was a great day and we had many visitors! I was one happy momma!!

The only negative to the whole day was that they moved me to my post partum room and it wasnt a private room! It was a semi-private room which meant i had to stay the night alone with Madison. James was unable to spend the night because another patient shared the room with me. So i made sure the nurses knew that i wanted out ASAP! haha! Well Madison and i toughed it out and exactly 24 hrs later we were discharged!! Daddy was there first thing in the morning and we were ready to get HOME ♥

When we got home we saw that DeRonda and Bob (my in-laws) had decorated the house for Madison's arrival! I was so happy to be home and loved the flowers and welcome home banners!

What a day!! And in the end we got exactly what we wanted.... a PERFECT baby girl!!
